Abstract

Two unpublished stamped amphorae sherds of Brindisian provenance, found at El Coronil (Seville) and Mesas de Asta (Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz) are presented and discussed. The limited number of examples of this type of container identified in the SW of the Iberian Peninsula means that these two new pieces are of particular interest for completing the overview of trade relations between this area and the Adriatic area, as well as the Italic presence in the territory and its consumption patterns. The study is part of a review of the distribution of these containers in the SW of the Iberian Peninsula, an issue that has not been specifically addressed until now, showing a limited but significant occurrence in relation to the maritime routes and supply lines in the area during the 2nd-1st centuries BC.
